Dan at the Newsuem
Me at the Newsuem in Washington DC

Hello, my name is Daniel Hudson. I have been programming computers for over 25 years and developing user experiences on the web since the early 90s. I am a thought leader and emerging technologies consultant working on business innovation solutions. I help people discover, connect and create relationships with people and ideas.  I help people and organizations use new technologies to improve communications and collaboration. Technology is changing the way we live.  Social Business solutions are changing the way we work.  Using the World Wide Web as a platform is the future. I want to share thoughts and ideas to help this generation and future generations use the web as a platform to create a collective intelligence that helps solve real world issues.

Please feel free to contribute! I hope your find something here to help you on your journey.

WebTechMan?

The nickname WebTechMan (Web Technology Man) is what my friends started calling me in the early 90s. I guess it came easy because my name is Dan and when I starting helping them with web related stuff they started calling me “Dan, Dan the Web Tech Man”. No, I don’t have a van (Saturday Night Live skit performed by Chris Farley). Chris is flat out funny and I am just not. It is funny how nicknames get attached to people, it started with me at a young age. My friends also know me as Trick Man Dan, because I have been doing magic since the very early 70s. Some of my friends up around Pittsburgh Pennsylvania know me as Merlin for the same reason. I guess I’m just a geek down deep inside. At one point in my life, I made my living performing magic. When I go out with my friends, they usually ask me to see a trick and would introduce me to new friends as “Trick Man Dan” and the nickname just kinda stuck. I don’t get much time to practice these days, but I still have a few tricks up my sleeve. Ask me to do a trick next time you see me. I am always interested in seeing magic too and have been known to trade tricks with my fellow geeks. If you find yourself at the Cuckoo’s Nest in Pittsburgh PA *Shout Out to my South Side crew* make sure you also take the time to pop in to the Bee Hive for some Java & Jabber. Ask around about the “South Side Shuffle” …
