Enterprise 2.0 and the Social Graph

The value of Enterprise 2.0 is increased when context is applied to information.  The use of Web Oriented Architecture (WOA) can ease the pain of integration and centralize information management.  This approach will also give you the flexibility of sharing information in the proper context.  We see simple examples on the web with services like Gravatar and DISQUS.  We also see how to connect things with simple markup like FOAF,  XFN, and Microformats for events & profiles.  The future of the internet and intranets is all about mashups, widgets, and web services.

Enterprises are collections of people, and thus inherently social. Employees of any organization benefit from social connections, group affiliations and relationships both within their own business and between other businesses. As a result, social networking capabilities have become increasingly popular in business-to-consumer, business-to-business, and internal enterprise collaboration applications.
