Twitter Clone Code & Services For Your Site
Happy Fav Five Friday!
Do you love twitter, yammer, & other microblogging services? Would you like to expand your communication channels? I believe we need to communicate with people where they are and twitter is a very good place to build relationships with people. You and your team may not always have access to public services like twitter or yammer. You may be thinking about adding a micro-blogging service to your Enterprise 2.0 platform. There are several twitter clones across the internet. I believe most of these clones were created because of the huge success of Twitter. I love twitter and their API has allowed many creative people to create some amazing applications for twitter to use on your desktop, iPhone, & other devices.

Bonus: Motion by Movable Type

From Twitter to FaceBook, you’re already using social media to build relationships with customers online. But those services don’t give you total control over your brand. Now Motion gives you a way to manage your message across all of these social networks, while still empowering your community to be part of the conversation.
- I would love to hear your thoughts about Twitter.
- Add your twitter / micro-blogging clone resources.
- What do you think about using micro-blogging in your Enterprise 2.0 Solutions?
great roundup! thanks. I particularly like Laconica by Evan Prodromou and Zach Copley, and Motion by Movable Type.
Brian,
I am obsessed with Twitter and I believe that the list of items here is just the tip of the iceberg. I also find Motion by Movable Type interesting, I hope more developers surface their social media mash ups so we can all save some time from visiting so many different social media sites.
Thanks for adding your thoughts!

Thanks for the mention. I think the biggest issue many enterprises struggle with is data security and integrity. They feel vulnerable that their employees will be disclosing company secrets out on the Internet. This is where an in-house installation would work.
Personally, I am a fan of hosted platforms because they require no maintenance and/or technical staff and just work right away
At yonkly we actually have 3 different version open source free, open source standalone (one time fee at http://www.yonkly.com/buy) and a hosted platform at yonkly.com.
You can’t talk about microbloggin without saying, “you can follow me at http://www.twitter.com/eibrahim”
Emad,
Good point about data security and integrity. I am currently working on an Enterprise 2.0 solution during my day job. Our platform was created with open source technologies. I believe having a twitter-like module would allow team members to have a next to real time channel for communications. I’m excited to see you and other developers are providing options to help get these type of tools incorporated into the Enterprise.
Oh yeah, how silly of me to talk about Twitter and twitter-like applications with saying something about following me.
