The Future of Social Network Marketing by Social Media Thought Leaders

The future of Social Media Marketing has been taking an interesting direction.  Can you imagine getting a discount coupon on your iPhone via text message for a place you are shopping in right now?  Twitter seems to be the sweet spot for marketers.  Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that allows users to post short messages that can contain links to a bigger message or presentation.  I use Twitter to stay in touch with friends and to discover new things about stuff in which I already have an interest.  I don’t really care to have marketing messages clogging up my twitter stream.  I feel lucky to be able to use twitter for free and I am willing to pay for this great communication tool because it has more value than TV for me.  I was thinking that it would be cool to have Twitter integrated into TV.  Would you be interested in commenting on TV programs with your friends during the show?  I guess I’m thinking about Twitter and TV together because I get irritated by boring commercials during my shows.  I just canceled a subscription to one of my favorite magazines because after all the inserts fell all over the floor and I cut out all the ads, I only had a couple of pages left.  I understand that advertisers help control the cost, but there needs to be a balance.

Sales & Marketing Executives International (SMEI) just finished their Social Media Road Show in Canada and here is a quick video with some Social Media Thought Leaders.  The Social Media Road Show is coming to the United States, check their site for dates and locations.

  • What’s your take on the future of Social Media?
  • Will you purchase non-digital items with your iPhone?
  • Will Twitter be embedded into your entertainment?
