Fav Five Friday: Email less with Social Media
A few days ago I posted this article Escape the DEATH GRIP of Your Email Inbox with Social Media #emailless I mentioned how I find myself emailing less because of social media. I used some of my social media tools like twitter to get more information from some of my social media friends. I learned a lot about using social media to escape the death grip of my email inbox and even more about social media tools. You can learn more about email less with social media at Google.
A Quick Thought About Saving Money By Using Email Less and Social Media More
Have you ever heard anyone say anything about how long it took them to get through their email? Just after the holidays, I would hear people talking about taking the whole day just to get caught up on their email after being away from the office for awhile.
Now let’s imagine you have 20,000 employees and just half of them take only one day in the year to get caught up on their email. What could that look like in dollars and cents? Let’s see.
How much money are you willing to waste before implementing a Social Media Solution?
- How many days are employees away from the office?
- How much time have you spent searching though your email inbox?
There are many Enterprise 2.0 tools out there that include blogs, wikis, forums, collaboration spaces, and too many people willing to help with social media solutions that can bring an end to this money gushing wound. Taking advantage of these tools will also help prevent asking and/or answering the same or similar questions over & over again.
My Very Cool Side Benefits of Using Social Media the other day
- Made a bunch of new friends
- Got a ton of tips on using email less
- Got some bonus tips on Social Media
- Got to help share ideas of others
- Got extra traffic to my site
Here are a few friends that are helping spread the word about escaping the death grip of your email inbox by using social media:
@marismith(She puts SOCIAL back into social media. Thanks for the help Mari!), @glcuccureddu, @sradick, @trishussey, @AnnieRob, @CWaterhouse (mmmm, Starbucks!), @mattwilkins, @ArtsGroupSales, @brettart, … There are many more Tweeps using email less and SM more at Twitter #emailLess A special thanks to Evan Williams @ev for tips and words of encouragement!
Most of you know that my blog here is rather new. I only average a couple hundred page views per day right now, but with the help of my friends from twitter I got well over 1,000 page views on this one article within a couple of hours. This is a good example of social media and the power of Twitter. I hope this idea of using social media was shared by each visitor with at least 2 of their friends and they in turn shared it with 2 of their friends. The point of this article is to stir thoughts and start conversations about how we can be the change. The more you use social media, the more it helps you. Thanks to Dan Zarrella @danzarrella (Congrats on new job!) for the tips. I will write more on this later…
