The strategy for a SUCCESSFUL social web project is CLEARLY explained in “designing for the social web”.
Joshua Porter did a great job in each and every part of this book including colorful images to help convey key points so you can easily understand and create your successful social web strategy.
I work as a professional technology consultant and have been working the social web before it got all it’s cool buzz words. I’m sure you have heard them too, Web 2.0, AJAX, Rails, Social Media, E2.0, Enterprise 2.0, Gov2.0, Cloud Computing, & many more. Next time you hear someone talking about Enterprise 2.0 (E2.0) or any other buzzword of the day, ask them what it means. “What is Enterprise 2.0?” If they start talking about ajax, sharepoint, php, or other technology, then ask someone else. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love all these buzz words, they help get all our hard work in the voice of mainstream media. The buzz & hype of the social web force some things to market before they are ready or ever needed. This IS NOT the case with Designing for the Social Web. This book was carefully crafted for your enjoyment.
There are a lot of books, blogs, software, and other resources about the social web. Most of these are based on theory or focused a certain technology. Josh shares his expertise from the REAL WORLD with a focus on WHY! I hope you don’t make a mistake by not reading this book.
Please invest the cost of a couple cups of coffee into yourself and read this book.
Happy Friday! Twitter is my new addiction and I find this tool very helpful, it helps me connect with friends and find new friends. I have found that Twitter is also very helpful as a business tool.
What do you think about the Microsoft “I’m PC” commercials?
Years ago I had one of those all-in-one apple computers. I started using a PC because most of my development software was only PC compatible. I was thinking about getting a new laptop, any laptop and after watching the new Microsoft commercials, I ran out and got the MAC Book Pro and loving it! Now I use my old PC Laptop as a stand for my MAC Book Pro.
SOCIAL MEDIA is great! I spend more time with social media and less time watching mindless TV every day. You may be the same way and I just wanted to share what I have been looking at lately. I spend a lot of time in the Enterprise 2.0 and Web 2.0 world with emphasis on Web Strategy and here are a few things I found very interesting. I plan to have a “Fav Five Friday” list every Friday. Do you have something to add to the list?
These videos cover things from Twitter to iPhone and Obama to Creme burlee. I really like the interview with Tim O’Riley and the other video with Guy Kawasaki made me think and laugh out loud.
I hope you enjoy these videos.
